If you want to analyze the DNS records of a competitor's domain name, simply enter the IP address in Domain Name, Domain Name and IP Address. You can check the IP address of a competing domain and see how it ranks on Google. You may want to check your competitor's DNS data to find out where your website is hosted and other details. If you decide to hire a web hosting provider, you will need to know your website's IP address and other services your web server provides for your domain.
Note that if you are using non-HostGator nameservers, you will need to manually set up DNS records in the HostGator control panel. You can find DNS settings in your domain registrar's control panel. The Start of Authority entry will tell you which DNS server is authoritative for the domain name. The user enters your domain name, it fires up DNS records to look up the IP address, and then sends website data from the server to the user.
If the domain name (or hostname) is not found in your computer's internal cache, your computer's DNS service will query the local DNS server (or a recursive DNS resolver). The labeled address of the primary name server is the Cloud DNS hub for the domain. DNS stands for Domain Name System and is used to direct a website's incoming domain to a server's IP address.
